The plasma pricing precipice
[The Blackfriars Blog] Over at the AV Science Forum, there is a bunch of discussion about the possibility of 50-inch Plasma panels for under $3,000 in the coming months. With brand name pricing of 50" plasma panels now more in the $4,000 range, this may herald a real pricing discontinuity for plasma panels, probably in response to the huge volume of production coming online in the LCD world.

Interestingly, nothing in the article contradicts anything we said here yesterday, other than the specialized server idea. We stand by our opinion that this doesn't mean x86 Macs, just Intel chips in the Mac design, probably G4 or G5 ones and/or WiMax chips.

[Pvrblog.com] News Archives | PVRblog: It's definitely a new age, and I agree with the author the internet helped make it happen. Gone are the days where people just sit passively and take in news programming, now every network has sites with feedback areas, email boxes, and the world is covered with blogs letting anyone say anything they want about the programming. Combined with simple tech, folks may just start making their own media soon, and if we can get an easy to use broadcatching platform for the home (what the article calls the ultimate set top box), there just might be something to make the TV and cable networks worry.
