Nicola's Baby Blog: My New Toy

„Oh the excitement!! We've done a bad thing. But I'm thrilled that we did it. It started on Sunday, when Stephen noticed that his computer monitor was flickering. It flickered quite badly and was slowly doing his eyes in. It was an old-ish monitor and we knew that he was just about due a new one. He had expressed interest in the past in getting a flat-screen monitor and, checking the time, we calculated that we could fit in a quick visit to PC World before it closed. We hopped in the car and headed to the Lakeside PC World, where Stephen chose a lovely flat-screen monitor. We had a look around the store - as you do - and I looked longingly at the laptops. I've wanted a laptop for ages. We both have. With the lack of space in our small semi-detached house (6 people and 6 computers now share this space!) and having to share our room now with Jake and all of his things, getting rid of my desktop computer has been in our minds. Also, when we arrive in Canada, our desktop computers will still be in transit. How sad are we that we can't imagine going without internet access until our stuff arrives?! Anyway, we chose a laptop, which has now become my computer. We spent loads more than we had intended to when we left the house. Naughty, naughty.“http://www.20six.co.uk/nicolajanes/archive/2004/06/08/ 7zb4myi9je57.htm - Cached
„Compaq's FP500. While it's not radically different from other monitors on the market, the FP500 is the first flat screen considered a checklist item on a new PC. The FP500 looks great - and the picture quality ain't too shabby, either. The monitor's 14.1 viewable inches make it noticeably larger than most "15 inch" monitors, and running 1,024-by-768 resolution is a pleasure.“http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/7.01/ streetcred.html?pg=6 - Cached
TPV to buy Philips monitor and flat-TV unit

„The companies said that in return for its PC monitor and cheap flat-screen TV business, with annual sales of 1.5 billion euros ($2 billion), Philips will get 15 percent of newly issued TPV shares when the deal is signed by mid-2005. It will also receive a $211 million convertible bond from TPV, which could give it another 15 percent of TPV shares by 2008.“http://news.com.com/.../ 2100-1047_3-5494563.html - Cached
