Defect subpixels

„My research rig was almost ready when I returned from our holiday, so I picked it up last Tuesday. There's an important lesson to be learned right away: when buying a LCD monitor, always insist to check the screen for dead pixels, before paying for it. If the shop won't let you do this or if they say that it's under the manufacturer's warranty, just don't buy the monitor from them. I'm really glad I checked out my monitor before buying.“

„Once you've seen high resolution on a traditional CRT (1,280 by 1,024 or 1,600 by 1,200 pixels), 15-inch LCD monitors capable of 1,024-by-768 seem inadequate. Now, at the end of the late-nineties' LCD shortage, we'll see 17- or 18-inch hi-res LCD monitors sell for less than $1,000 - not cheap compared with $500 19-inch monitors, but cheap enough when you consider how little space they take up. By 2005, LCDs could be the de facto display on most computers, and they'll approach a print quality of 200 dots per inch.At $99, Palm sales skyrocket. When Palm, or one of its licensees, gets the price under $100, sales will take off.“http://www.pcmag.com/article2/ 0,1759,161352,00.asp - Cached
