Bites at Apple
[Archived in Entry, Nec Lcd Monitor]
Eric on 2004/10/05:
„The past few weeks haven't exactly provided stellar examples of the vaunted Apple product quality around this household. First, there was the Changing of the Monitor Guard , as I finally gave up on the 17" Studio Display in favor of a NEC LCD screen (which, btw, I continue to love).“

Some slightly related:
„For about $1500 more, Apple's 22-inch Cinema Display gives users a huge 16:10 screen. Though this monitor was designed primarily for use with Macs, it was superior to other LCDs, especially on fast-action sequences, when we attached it to our PC test system. (Apple will not disclose the monitor's rated pixel response time, but it appears to be quite sprightly.) It's a worthy choice as an entertainment display, at least for folks with fat wallets.“http://pcworld.about.com/magazine/ 2102p109id107852.htm - Cached
„Attractive from a distance, the Apple Cinema HD 30-inch display turns out to have feet of clay on closer inspection. It is indeed an expansive and impressive LCD monitor, but its limitations cause it to fall short of the superlative claims made by Apple. It may well be good enough for your needs, but make sure you buy it with your eyes open.“http://www.pcmag.com/article2/ 0,1759,1738355,00.asp - Cached
„This is where the serious torquing (torqueing?) off begins. Every other monitor repair shop I've found charges a flat fee of about $100 to fix a 17" LCD (plus parts for a voltage inverter, but those aren't expensive). So, Apple is waaaay above market in that area. But, those same monitor repair shops generally won't work on Apple displays, because they can't get the parts.“http://www.ericsiegmund.com/fireant/archivesmt/ 000497.html - Cached

„The Apple 17-inch cathode ray tube (CRT ) monitor--the last model available of this type--is being retired as the company makes a transition to all liquid-crystal display (LCD ), or flat-panel, monitors. Apple currently offers 15-inch and 22-inch LCD panels.“ posted on 2004/12/22http://news.com.com/.../ 2100-1040_3-256954.html - Cached
